GMC Repair: ticking sound not knocking, auto parts stores, gmc truck

hi my 97 gmc truck engine light came back on.Last week it broke down something with my distriubutor so it got fixed.Then it came back on like a week later.Now it is making a ticking sound. I dont belived it is in the motor.So i checked fluids there good.Checked distributor conections as well as plugs.Everthing is running good.  So my question is could it be the spark plugs and wires?

Yes it is possible to be a cracked plug or a broke/cracked wire or wire boot.
If it does it all the time, you could watch it at night time, and see if you can actually see it.
Follow the sound.
If it is electrical it'll be a really sharp tick, sounding like a static electricity discharge you can produce in winter, you know.......
Go get the code scanned, MOST nationwide repair shops AND auto parts stores will preform a free diagnostic scan on the Check engine light.
