GMC Repair: vacuum line for heating and a/c:, pontiac bonneville, vacuum line

Question
I have a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville SE.  When I select air flow to come out of the vents in the dash it only comes out for the windshield and the floor.  There is a small tank in front of the wheel on the passenger side of the car. This tank has a small black line that supplies a vacuum to the a/c programmer.  This line has broken on my car. This resulted in a loss of vaccuum to the a/c programmer.  When the system loses vacuum it defaults to the windshield and the floor.

My question is can I splice the line coming from the tank without restricting the vacuum going to the a/c programmer.  If I have to replace the entire line can you provide with a schematic of the line so that I can find where it enter the passenger compartment?

Any assistance or suggestions you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hi
You can splice the line. Use 5/32nd vacuum hose to splice the hard plastic line.
GM does not have a schematic for vaccuum lines as far as where they are located.
Best advice is to just follow it. IF memory serves me I am pretty sure it goes through on the passanger side close to where the A/C lines go through.
Pay close attention to anywhere it may pass under or close to the battery, the acid can and will eat the plastic.
Also look around any recent repiars that may have unplugged it.
Listen... it will hiss if the leak is large enough which may help.
Also, sounds like you have done this, but check vacuum TO tank from engine, and check the tanks integrity, eg.. cracked, porosity, etc....
I hope this helps.
Good Luck
