GMC Repair: GMC Yukon XL electrical system, gmc yukon xl, fuel guage

Question
Recently, we have had two intermittant electrical problems -they happen and then they don't the next time the car is used.  In the first case, the gas gauge went dead.  In the second, the headlights went off at night and had to be turned on manually.  Both now work again.

I changed the daylight driving lights yesterday as they were burned out.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Answer
It would help if I knew the year model of the truck, but the fuel guage is probably the level sender in the tank. The headlamps may be the sunload sensor in the dash, or if you were driving in bright lights, i.e street lamps, and they hit the sensor just right for long enough the sendor may have thought it was daylight and turned the headlamps off.
