GMC Repair: engine, blown head gasket, head gasket failure

Question
I own a 1996 GMC sonoma 2.2L, when i start it is only running on three cylnders then i hold it at about 2500 rpm for 10 sec or so then it kicks in. I put new plugs and wires on, week ago or so but did not fix the problem, only does this when i start it, ans also it is blowing white smoke out the exaust for about 5 min then stops. Also the raidiator is full and the thermastat is new but engine is overheating, could this be the water pump, and do u think i could have a cracked head,if you could give me your opinion it would be great, thanks

Answer
Sounds to me like a head gasket failure and or a cracked head. Most common would be a blown head gasket.

If you have a RADIATOR PRESSURE TEST performed on the vehicle and or a cylinder leakage tset done on the vehicle this will confirm a probable haed gasket or head failure.
