GMC Repair: engine miss, gmc safari, autohelp

Question
I have a 1999 GMC Safari Cago Van.  When I run the AC the eng picks up a miss and loss of power.  It has done this since it was new.  I took it to the dealer.  But they could not find any thing wrong.  It runs great when the AC is off.

Answer
The MISS that you are most likely experiencing is the NORMAL compressor cycling ON and OFF of which it is designed to do and you WILL feel this as probably in your mind as an engine MISS of which it is NOT.

As far as power loss this is also NORMAL due to the tremendous drag that is put on the engine of which is also NORMAL.

If the vehicle is running OK when the A/C and or the DEFROSTER is OFF, I do NOT see any engine mechanical problems.

However there is possibly a miss but I would need to have access to the vehicle in order to determine the cause if any.
