BMW Repair: 1999 528i cruise control loss, bmw owners, hole in the road

Hi Evan-
Ok, we have this BMW with 197,000 miles. Two problems: 1. The front end started making a clanging sound (similar to many coins in a bag) whenever I hit a bump or hole in the road surface.  What can I say to my tech to get him to hear this noise (he claims it wasn't heard, though I hear it all the time now).
2. The yellow transmission light on the bottom left of the dash has come on- just about the same time the cruise control stopped working.
What is the sensor called that must be replaced to regain the cruise control and could these two problems be related?

Niki, it sounds like you have an automotive repair business from what I gather from statements like (my tech and we have a bmw) I WILL NOT help an automotive repair business! This site is only for BMW owners and enthusiasts. Please consider sites like Identafix or others. I DO NOT get paid for my advise to others and I'm using my personal time to answer questions.
