GMC Repair: Brake System, dignosis, gm dealer

Question
'99 Chev Silverado.
Both the brake system warning lights, (!)(P) and (ABS) have come on, is there a check list that can be of help trying to determine the cause of this.

Took it in to local GM dealer, and was charged for dignosis, only to be told it would cost approx $200. to locate the problem, and it was probably the "module" and that would cost about $800. to replace.

After the dignosis (didnt trust their opinions) the lights were off for several weeks but have come on again.

Answer
Unfortunatly there are alot of tests that need to be performed in oder to locate the fault.

They are doing what any service facility would do is that they are quoting you the WORST CASE possibility.

If they made a GUESS and told you it was probably a wheel sensor and the total cost was $300.00 and after they did the diagnostics and discovered that in fact it was the module and told you the cost would now be close to $1,000 you would be pitching a fit becuse they quoted you $300.00 and NOW they want $1,000.
