GMC Repair: 1995 cherolet blazer 4.3 timming, 3l, 8l

a friend is working on his blazer,4.3 motor.when changing the timming chain and gear what piston,is at top dead center to have timming marks on sprockets lined up to take apart and install.his book and mine dont match,and mechanic says both books are wrong,can you help,jim in michigan

or is there web site to check it out thanks

I do not have a book with a picture of the timing sequence for a 4.3L currently available. All I have is a 2.8L. I recently moved and only have half of my books unpacked. I won't be able to get to them until saturday.
