I have a 1995 GMC Suburban. The issue is the air from the fan only blows out at the bottom of the dash when you turn on the A/C. The a/c compressor turns but the clutch does not engage. The a/c switch on the dash does not light up either when you press it to the on position. No repairs to date on the dash switch or a/c other than general maintance, freon, etc.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

Why did you have to add freon to the A/C system and how much did you add ?.

I miss spoke. I did not add any freon, I just meant the system was in good working order in the spring when the unit was checked and the freon was ok.
Hope that helps. And thanks for your quick response.

Answer
Just because the system was working OK in the spring does NOT mean that a problem is evident with the A/C components.

You will need to have the A/C pressures checked via a manifold set ( a set of A/C gages ) to verify proper pressures and volume of refrigerant (freon).

You could compare it to a light bulb in your bathroom, The light worked OK for over a monthe and one day the light did not come on when I turned on the switch. Cause: burned out light bulb.

let me know.
