American Motors: 82 AMC Eagle no start/just click, windshield wiper motor, amc eagle

Question
I have a 1982 AMC Eagle that I can't get started.  I went out to start it one day and the motor turned over 4 times, very slowly and then the clicking.  It acted liked the battery was dead, but it has a full charge. All I hear now is a click when I turn the key.  I changed the starter, put on a new cable from the started to battery, put a new solenoid on by the battery, new cables on the battery.  The click sound, sounds like it is coming from somewhere around the windshield wiper motor. Thanks for any help you can give!!

Answer
1)Short across the solenoid using a jumper cable to see if the starter will crank.
2) make sure both battery terminals and posts are clean.
3) Make sure the cable at the starter is tight.
4) turn the headlights on, then try to start the engine. If the lights dim, you need to check the battery or excessive starter draw. If the headlights don't dim, there is an open in the starter circuit
