American Motors: ok im looking to get this 67 Rambler American, spark plug wire, bright spark

ok they say it does not run now but it did before. i would like to know what i show do first to get it on the street again. it has a straight 6 in it. could you tell me what i would have to do to get it running again. they say it turns over but will not start. also could you show me a web page where they would have some more info on this car. im in iraq right now and have some money saved up for the things i need to get this car up and going again.

You need 3 things to get an engine running.
1) Compression. Pull a spark plug and cover the hole with your finger. Crank the engine over. You finger should pop off the hole.
2) Spark. Remove a spark plug wire from a plug. Hold the end 1/2" away from the engine block. Crank the engine and you should have a bright spark jumping to the block.
3) Fuel. After the engine has cranked, turn the key off.
Remove the air cleaner and look down the carburetor with a flashlight. Mash down on the gas pedal and look for a stream of fuel shooting into the venturi of the carburetor.
If all of these are happening at the right time, it will start.
