American Motors: Gauges, google search, tom sheldon

Question
The fuel and temp gauges on the dash read high constantly. The previous owner bypassed this system with aftermarket gauges and I would like to go back to the original equipment. i have replaced the temp. sending unit with no luck. I noticed there is a resister on the power feed to the cluster that appears to be burnt. Did they reduce the voltage for the feed wire or does it relie stricly on the ground ?? By the way it is a 64 Rambler 66o wagon with the 287ci. If you have any cluster diagrams it would be very helpful. Thank's Tom Sheldon.

Answer
It's called a CVR, constant voltage regulator. It is wired in the circuit board. It reduces voltage to the gauges.
When the key is off, do the gauges go to their lowest reading? How about if you disconnect the battery. They should. I do not have a wiring diagram for your Rambler. I would try to find one on ebay or a google search.
Sorry.
