Audio Systems: More than one powered sub home audio ?, rca inputs, subwoofer output

Question
Hello I am not sure if this is ok to do or correct I have a pioneer vsk-515 reciever with one sub out first is a RCA y splitter to one LFE one sub then other side of RCA y splitter to another RCA y splitter then RCA both left and right to back of RCA on sub two is it ok to use on LFE on one sub or shoul I go straight two RCA y splitters to both left and right RCA s on the subs  ? Any thoughts thanks much

Answer
Hi Jacob,

If I'm reading this correctly, you have dual RCA inputs on one of the subs.

The 2nd splitter is unnecessary. You only need to run a single cable to each sub from the y cable at the receiver.

The reason that there are dual inputs on some subwoofers is because not all receivers have a dedicated subwoofer output, and a different cabling scheme is needed. Since you have a dedicated output, you only need to send one line into the sub.

One thing you do need to be aware of is this - depending on the placement of the subwoofers, you may experience LESS low end than more. I know it seems odd, since you'd naturally think that more subwoofers = more bass. What can actually happen is that the sound-waves coming from one sub will phase-cancel the sounds coming from the other. How that works can be read here:

I hope this helps you out a bit. Cheers!
