Audio Systems: Trunk vibration, buick lasabre, vibration mode

Question
Im currently running a dual cd player(XD1222) with a dual 400 watt amp(XPE2700) using a 12' 500 watt dual speaker. Im driving a 94 buick lasabre. The only problem im having is when i shut the trunk the vibration starts really bad, but when i open it stops. if anyone knows a quick fix or a way to just make vibration less it be appreciated. i dont want to dump money into the car cuz its only a temp. car.

Answer
When the trunk lid is closed it creates a big pressure inside and brings loose panels into their vibration mode. The only solution is to tighten down all that moves. Of course, you can turn down the audio level so there is less vibration but if you want to keep the bass roaring you will have to find out what is vibrating and 'nail' it down.

To find out where the rattles are created you might need to climb right into the trunk with a flashlight and put your hand on all the loose parts until you have found the culprit(s).

Good luck.

BTW: You are not alone.  Rattles and vibration sounds are extremely common in cars with good subs cranking away. The fact that you have this problem is a measure of the fact that the subs are doing a good job!
