hi Cleggsan,

I have a Chrysler AM/FM Cassette head unit (P/N: P4858509, Supplier No.: 26777, Issue 1, Date Code 3495, S/N: T BD AA 349 5 35566) that is setup with a DIN 8-pin jack for the connection of a remote CD-changer. Next to the DIN is a recess with two pins that appears to be a place to insert a JUMPER plug.

When installed in my Cirrus the MODE button cycles through AM, FM, AM,. . . . , and also SET1, SET2, SET 1. . . .  My goal is to 'trick' the head unit into believing that there is a CD changer connected so that I can select CD with the MODE button.

I intend to connect the LEFT & RIGHT audio inputs to a dash mounted 3.5mm JACK that will be an AUX INPUT for any protable players.

I need to know how to trigger the head unit to allow me to select CD with the MODE button, thus allowing me to play from alternate sources.  I've identified most of the conductors in teh cable to the head unit with the exception of a brown shielded condutor in a brown sheath. It may be the +bus and bus ground that I have seen in my web searches. I haven't found anything that would give me an idea of what voltage might be applied here if this is the "TRIGGER" to the head unit to accept the signal from the remote source and allow the MODE button to select the CD mode.

Please Help!
Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and wisdom.

Answer
I recommend you take the easy route and install an aftermarket aux input adapter. You can find one that works for your vehicle here:

If in doubt, call those folks and they will help you choose the right one.

Good luck.
