Audio Systems: Dual XDVD8181 Dvd, mp3 cds, disc formats

Question
QUESTION: I have this unit working wel, it plays all kind of cd's, audio or mp3.  But with DVD only plays DVDs from stores, I have tried to play a burned dvd with Windows 7 with MP3 and allways say BAD DISK. (The dvd plays in all other devices well).  May be it could be something with the region code ? Thanks.

ANSWER: You did not say which dvd format you are burning.  DVD-R are the most likely to be supported by various players.  Not all players support all disc types.

I suppose the problem you are facing is the Dual unit you have just doesn't support the disc format you are using.  If your burner will support various disc formats, try some of them to see if that will solve the problem.

Hope this helps.

PS: By the way, the specifications for this model show the support for media types as:

Media Support

Media Supported   DVD+RW - Play, DVD-RW - Play, CD-R/RW - Play

Does not seem to support DVD-R.

QUESTION: Im using the same option used for the mp3 cds (That works ok).  In windows 7, Burn Disk.
The media used is a  TDK 4x DVD-RW.
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Have you tried dvd+rw disc?  It might be worth a try.

I have no further suggestion for a remedy.  So, if you are sure of the disc burning and playback trials then we must assume the player is defective in some way and would need factory service to test it out.  If still under warranty they should take care of it under the terms of the warranty.

PS: If you have friend who can record disc for you and it works then there is that remote possibility something strange with your burning program......
