Car Stereos: Speakers cut out, porsche 911, alpine cdm 7861

My speakers occasionally stop working while I'm driving.  They will also not work on occasion when I start the car.  Sometimes taking the faceplate off and then putting it right back on restores sound.  Other times I need to turn the car off in order to get sound back.  The head unit shows the cd playing at all times.  The stereo is an Alpine CDM-7861 and the car is an '85 Porsche 911.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

Hi Mike,

You're almost certainly dealing with loose wiring.  Try removing the speakers entirely, cleaning their contacts (lightly sanding), and reconnecting them tightly (or even soldering them in place if you can).  That should fix it up.
