Audio Systems: car speaker upgrade, bose speakers, electronics system

Question
I have a 94 corvette.  The front speakers came out with the Delco speakers. They are shot and I would like to know if I can upgrade to the Bose speakers that have the built in amps.  They were a option for that car.  Could I just plug the bose into the origanal speakers wires or would it be easier to just replace with regular speakers.  Thanks Loren

Answer
No, not unless you change out the entire electronics system too.  Bose is not compatible with other products made by conforming manufacturers - at least not without some engineering tricks that are necessary in order to match the I/O characteristics used by Bose.

You can go to www.crutchfield.com and work through their "outfit my car" and they will tell you what will fit and options for mounting non-fit speakers.

Of course, you need not purchase the speakers from Crutchfield, but if you do they will supply you with installation instructions and any connectors that you may need for the installation.

Great car, you deserve a fine sounding system.  Hope you get it.  Don't forget about adding a subwoofer if not already in the car.
