Steering Column Repair: steering column, center shaft, ford f250

Question
can you change a steering column without an airbag with a steering column with an airbag... this is in a 97 ford f250.. i accidentally ordered a steering column with an airbag and my truck does not have an airbag

Answer
Hi Mike:

I believe you can use the column you received.  The difference will be where the horn contacts and turn signal cancel cam go (on the center shaft).  The airbag column uses a different configuration for those parts on the top of the column just under the steering wheel.  You may have to figure out how to adapt the replacement column with some of the parts from your original so you have a horn and cancel function for your turn signals (and cruise if equipped).  But otherwise, I think the rest of it interchanges.

Good luck

Doug
