Audio Systems: AIWA cd playear, aiwa cx, portable cd players

Question
Hi,

I have an AIWA CX NA-115 box.  The CD player holds 3 discs, but does not play.  The player will start to play no. 1 for a few seconds, then goes to no 2 for a few sections, then goes to no. 3.  It never plays any music.

Any clue as to what the problem may be?

Answer
There are several  potential causes:

-  Weak laser diode inside the optical pickup system preventing the digital information getting to the decoders inside the electronics section.  This is the most common.
-  Badly aligned optical pickup system.  This is often caused by a bump or dropping of the unit by accident and requires an alignment procedure which can only be done at a service shop.
-  Bad digital decoder inside the box.

Unfortunately, the cost of repair is often greater than the cost of a new cd player.  For example, portable cd players are from $9.00 and up and can be connected into the aux input of your box.  A multi-disc player can be purchased for a few dollars more,

Many who have this same problem are putting their music on an MP3 or iPod and plugging it into the box unit and the car.  You can take your music with you with a small size mp3 player and they are very low cost, also.

Hope this helps.
