Audio Systems: escort mk 6 power amp, factory wiring harness, escort mk 6

Question
from where should I pass the power lead from the battery to the interior of my car?? i cant find a hole anywhere :/ ...thx pal

Answer
Most usually, you can find an existing factory hole with a rubber grommet (already) in it to use. Oftentimes, you can find a factory installed, UNUSED grommet to do this. In other situations with a larger factory grommet, you may be able to use one that IS already used by a factory wire as long as there is room for the factory wire and the amp wire to be in their own holes in that grommet.
When the installer cannot find one of those, they must find a safe location to drill a hole and then fit a proper sized rubber or plastic grommet in it for the wire to pass through. Many plastic ones (which are readily available to buy locally) are more of a liner for the raw edge of metal. I prefer Rubber since it provides a much better seal against weather and noise.
NOTE: I mention 'safe location' because you do NOT want to drill into anything which may be hidden or reside on the backside of the firewall..  for instance a brake line or fuel line or some of the factory wiring harness (among other things)!

Here are some examples of both kinds of grommets:

*Be sure the drill bit and the grommet are the correct size!
In any case, be sure to properly fuse the amp lead within 16" of the battery (or within about 40 centimeters of the battery).

Thanks for using Allexperts and I hope this helps.
