Audio Systems: i need an amp, google searches, amplifier power

Question
Hi, I'm an newb at car electronics.  I have two ten inch RE subwoofers at 175 RMS 4 ohm.  I'm puttin them in a 1999 Honda Accord.  I just need to kno what size amp I need and box? Ported or unported?  Your advice is greatly needed.  Thank You!

Answer
Consult the manufacturers web reference; they usually have suggestions to help with your selection.

Also, there are many suggestions and system examples on the Internet that can be found with a few simple google searches.

Without knowing the model number and voice coil configuration it is not possible to give you specific advise.  But, as a general rule you want the largest box that you can fit into your Honda.  Closes or vented box is your own decision.  Amplifier power is anything that will drive the speakers.  Check the sensitivity and if they are under 90 db use a big amp. If over 90 db you can use smaller power amp - which will give you less loading on the electrical system of the vehicle.  Big, big amps can put too much drain on the electrical system of Honda accords requiring high output battery and possibly high output alternator to keep up with the power demands of the amplifier.

Crutchfield.com has some really good advice and installation tips on their site.  Please refer to them, also.
