Chrysler Repair: 98 plymouth gran voy van headlights, remote keyless entry, delay circuit

Question
the van turns its headlight, inside lights and door chime on when the car is turned off. it will stay on minute or two then it blinks on and off after that.  We changed the battery have had it computer scanned. Sometimes it does this right after I turn van off or like this morning I walked into the garage and lights were on and then they blinked and then went through the cycle again.

Answer
Hi Nancy,
I checked the '98 manual for details to see what I could find.  Do you recall if any fault code numbers came from the scan process? Do you have an owners manual to reference for a possible explanation of the "headlamp time delay system" which is what I think is involved?
Do the headlamps turn on even though you have been driving in daylight just before stopping? Or does this just happen when shutting of the van at night? There is a headlamp delay circuit which allows for the headlamps to stay on for 60 seconds after you shut off the van for you convenience/security so this may be a manifestation of this feature gone awry. It is only available if you also have a remote keyless entry fob feature. The way it works is if you first turn off the ignition, and then within 45 seconds you turn off the headlamp switch. So see if, when you turn off the headlamps BEFORE you turn off the ignition switch this prevents this behavior. Let me know what you find from trying that, please
