Audio Systems: 05 mbz CLK320 all of a sudden has no sound, power amplifier, power amp

Question
QUESTION: I recently bought a 05 MBZ CLK320 The stereo was working fine but now there is no sound The volume knob spins but there is no sound.Indicater says radio on and I can change channels just can't hear a thing.

ANSWER: Normally I would say you just have a power amplifier failure; either it is dead or the remote wiring is not turning it on but after reading the stuff below there may be other gremlins at work!

So, check out the external power amp as a first start.

QUESTION: How do I do that?

Answer
First, find it.  I don't know where it it located, but most of the Becker stuff (who makes most of the MB radios) puts them in the trunk area.  Then, using a vom (you can buy a good car type voltmeter at Walmart or Home Depot for under $10) and check the 12v lines and ground to make sure it has the proper voltage. If it doesn't then you have a wiring problem. If the voltages are correct it is a defective amplifier, probably.
