Audio Systems: Speaker cut out, range speakers, floor speaker

Question
Wayne, I have an older TV/stereo system with a Pioneer VSX3300 receiver and two large floor speaker combos with 12" a bass Pyles, and Pioneer low/mid range speakers along with two bookcase speakers in the rear.

My problem is the right front speaker cuts out once in awhile during TV or DVD viewing. To make it come on I have to push lightly on the bass speaker. Is this a speaker problem or is my receiver acting up? Also increasing the volume will also reactivate the speakers.

regards

Keith

Answer
Try swapping the left and right front speaker connections from the receiver to see if the problem "follows" the speaker, or stays on the right output. If it stays, you've got a receiver issue.

Regardless of if it's the receiver or speaker, make sure you have a qualified tech look at them.
