Audio Systems: ford factory rear dvd player, ford lincoln mercury, ford excursion

i have a 2004 ford excursion. the rear dvd player simply doesn't work. i was told by a friend who drove the vehicle cross country that the dvd player worked. i haven't actually seen it work. so it will allow me to insert a dvd and begin to work. the screen doesn't show anything but i can hear the disc spinning. after a few seconds the power is gone and the screen flickers once. that is all it does. the vehicle has a aftermarket dvd gps stereo in the front radio console so i don't know if that has anything to do with my problem.

maybe your friend is confuse  lol the rear DVD system needs the original factory radio to turn on and work, if not it will take the disc but will shut off a few seconds later
