Audio Systems: sound system, rubber grommets, lifetime warranty

Question
hi, i've got a 02 cavalier and i recently had a new after market radio put in it and its been trouble. I could be driving and outta nowhere the sound cuts out and later cuts back in. when i turn it up, i hear little crackling noices, this happened even before i got the new radio, would this be because of the speakers, and if it would help, when i slam the passenger door the radio comes back on. so can you help me out dude Its been real bothersome 4 quite some time.

Answer
If you brought it into my shop and told me this I would (without hesitation) suggest a 'system rewire' which is usually around 50.00.
A system rewire includes all new speaker wiring, all new connections to the power and memory wires from the headunit, the headunit ground wire will be wired directly to the vehicle chassis ground. Lifetime warranty on the work performed.
That said, you may also need some new rubber grommets in the door jambs ect..

You may be able to do this yourself for much less than 50.00 (as long as you do not start an electrical fire). 50.00 can seem pretty affordable if you think about the possible charred outcomes.
If the crackling is from all speakers check the ground wire for the headunit.
If it only does this on radio..  it could be the antenna.

I hope this helps.
