Audio Systems: Panasonic DVD/DVR Recorder will NOT read, panasonice, vcr combo

I purchased a Panasonice DVD/VCR Combo DVR Recorder..Model# DMREZ47 at Circuit City on 12-17-2007..It never did some things like when you tried to use the navigator button, however, now it will not only not record or play a store purchased DVD movie..it will not READ any DVD's, so it will not work at all. I called Panasonic and they had no clue..it is under warranty with Warrantech WCPS...they said I had to hand deliver this unit 187 miles away, even though, the contract states that I can mail it as long as I inusure it.  I cannot get any help in finding a repair place for this item around Tallahassee, FL or Jacksonville, FL..The VHS will work, however, it doesn't work that well...Do you know why it will not "READ" any DVD's of any kind?

If in fact this unit was manufactured in 2007 there should be no problem decoding most DVD's. I assume that the DVD movies you've tried to watch are store bought and not copies or bootleg versions.

If in fact your contract says that you can ship it, then you should. Insurance should not be costly. If I were you I wouldn't worry about what Warrantech says, since the only 2 options are; the unit gets lost and the shipping company covers you for a replacement or Warrantech repairs it.
