Audio Systems: installing cd pioneer deh-360 on 2000 devill, pioneer deh, pioneer unit

Question
hi im trying to figure out how to install a aftermarket cd player on a 2000 cadillac deville. i matched all the wires together and tried to connect it, but i get no power. i dont know whats going on

Answer
What do you mean you matched all the wires?  Did you match wire colors or functionality?  It must be wired for function; speaker out to speaker etc.  And, is there an external power amplifier in this car?  Probably so.

Did you use a wiring harness?  You should have because it makes it so much easier to wire up and to remove if you later on take the unit out.

With the proper wiring harness you can plug into the existing car cable and the loose ends are then connected accordingly to the leads coming from the Pioneer unit.

But, you must have the wiring diagram layout for the car and the wire identifications from the Pioneer manual so you can match the wires for the left front speaker, right front speaker and so on.

You can buy wiring harnesses from Walmart, Bestbuy, Installer.com, crutchfield.com and so on.

If you have doubts about what internal amplifiers may be in the car you can determine by going to crutchfield.com and working through the "outfit my car" sequence.  If you bought the Pioneer unit from them they would have provided the wiring harness and instructions; other suppliers often do the same.  If you search around the crutchfield site you can probably find a video on how to install a head unit that will help; it is highly recommended if you have not done one before.

This is a little old, but may be helpful in providing the wiring scheme used in the DeVille:

Hope this gets you going.

PS: If this is a BOse system you have other matters to resolve because Bose speakers are not compatible with other manufacturers direclty.  See this commentary:
