Audio Systems: IC replacement, amp board, lm3875

Question
In reading/research my sony ste-de605 "protector" fix is to replace the IC's associated with the amp board. There are 2 IC's attached to the heat sink and the board, are these the ones to I need to replace( LM3875)? Or what  test can I do to verify id these are bad?
thanks
Ray

Answer
That is a high power (56 w) audio chip and could certainly be the one that has brought the rails down in the power supply causing the protect to activate.  There are two of them.

If you pull them out - or disconnect the B+ voltage to them the protect should not happen.  Connecting them back up will bring it down if bad.  Replacing them should correct the problem.  There are other potential causes, so I would check them carefully as outlined above.
