Audio Systems: Power Amplifiers VS Reciver, power amplifiers, power amps

Question
Hi I was thinking of buy three QSCGX3 amplifiers to make a home theater would that be suitable or are power amps not the best for home theaters VS using a AV receiver?

Answer
The difference between a receiver and amplifier, functionality wise, is merely that a receiver has the front end stuff: Switching, I/O and volume controlling capabilities.

If you just need amplification and the controller functions are being handled elsewhere you would be just find with basic amps.

As a general rule it is widely accepted the quality of amplification is superior in basic amps because the manufacturer is appealing to the true high fidelity customer.  Hence, the transformers are heavier and the componentry is higher grade.  So, if fidelity is important to you the amplifier solution would be a better choice.  QSC stuff is top notch, first grade and is not easy to find anything better for sound quality, durability, reliability and design.  I highly recommend this brand if they meet all the other needs your system has.

Best wishes,
