Audio Systems: cd player, toyota camry, car toyota

i have recently bought a 2003 toyota camry le and the cd player does not play at all, when I put cd in within seconds in comes right back out.

Do you know how long it has been since it played a cd correctly?  

There are so many possible causes that it would be pure speculation on my part to give you a definitive reply.

It could have been damaged somehow by the previous owner. It could be worn out. It could have a weak or dead laser diode. It could be badly out of alignment or damaged from an accident, etc.

You can try cleaning the lens on the optical pickup system.

Also, it may not be able to play one-offs or cdrs or mp3s.  So, if you are putting in one of the formats it does not recognize that could be the problem as well.  So, check it with a known good music cd from the store before you decide the next move.

Let me know if there is further to do, but if so, let me know the make and model of the radio in the car.  Toyota has several grades of audio used in the 03 Camrys.
