Audio Systems: VW Monsoon Stereo - Model Passat 2003, monsoon stereo, monsoon system

This morning my Monsoon system just died down. When I switch it on it shows a message "CHECK". Can you please help me what might be the issue.

If the audio "Faded" down gradually, or even fairly quickly as opposed to dropping out instantly it would point to a loss of the 12v power line.  In this case, check the fuse and the wire contact with the amplifier.  If  the power lead coming from the battery has come loose or fallen out of its connector or screw down that could explain it.


Further, some VW Monsoon systems use a 6v remote turn on for the power amp. If the amp lost its 6 v from the head unit it could account for that, too.

You will probably have to take it in to a shop that has worked with and has experience with the VW Monsoon systems.  They are unique and not just any car audio shop will know how to diagnose them.

The "Check" indication merely means that a fault has come up.  The loss of a voltage could trigger such an error message.
