Audio Systems: no sound, 2007 nissan murano, 2006 nissan murano

Question
Hi

My 4 month old 2007 Nissan Murano has a Bose audio system that suddenly went soundless.  I don't know whether I accidently muted it or somehow blew a fuse. I've been trapped listening to the wife for the past week - help.

Answer
Do you have the owners manual?  Have you checked it out carefully?

-  The mute button is on the front panel of the in-dash radio unit.  If you go to http://www.courtesyparts.com/nissan-manual/pdf/2006-Nissan-Murano.pdf and download the manual (this is for a 2006 Murano as I don't think the 2007 is online yet) and go to page 4-33 you will find a picture of the front panel with all the button shown.  It is number 12.

-  Or, if it is the higher end Bose unit, as on page 4-37 you will see it does not have a mute function.  But, you can switch to sat and it should mute (unless you have XM or Sirius added).

-  Also, you should check to see if you have actuated the tape or cd button but don't have either tape or cd in the head unit.

- If you have lost power for any reason the set could require to be reprogrammed with the anti-theft code.

-  Finally, if the unit is defective you may need to take it back to the dealer for warranty service.

Hope this helps; let me know if you need more.
