Audio Systems: Kenwood VR615, control knobs, kenwood vr

Question
QUESTION: Hello I have a Kenwood VR 615 receiver.
I turn on the unit and listen an initial click followed shortly thereafter by another, but the display has no light.
I saw your answer about the same problem. I resolder the pins right behind the display like you advice but the display continuos off. I check the volts in the pins and i was 5V.
what more can i check or do ??
Thanks in advance
Alex

ANSWER: I will need to check for your specific model.  Some displays use 30V and others (LED based) use 5V.  Does everything else work OK?

QUESTION: Yes, all work fine, from the control knobs and buttons i can select the diferent input and output without a problem.

ANSWER: I don't have the manual for this specific unit, but if it is 5V based, the most likely problem is either the "back light" or the display chip.  Look for a small bulb that resides behind the display.  Was the display red or an LCD type?

The display is solder or just have a socket? i want to known before i remove all the screws.

Answer
As far as I know the display is soldered in place.  Some models have sockets though.  There were different manufacturing runs for some models as well.  Check the connections for the display chip that shouldbe located close to the display as well.  Any bad connection in that area will cause the symptom you are seeing.
