Audio Systems: sony turntable help, sony turntable, sony lbt

Ive recently acquired a Sony LBT-v102, and have tried out the turntable, and it doesn't play at the right speed (and yes i have selected the right speed) this happens on both 33's and 45's, it seems to almost get to once every rotation and then slows down again, almost as if it is catching on something, but Ive taken it apart and there are no obstructions, could it me something to do with the motor?

I believe that this one is a belt drive TT.  If so, the belt probably neds replacing.  Also, a bad spot in the drive motor can cause this.  I'm away from the shop for a few days.  I'll look up this specific model and try to get you the part numbers when I return.
