Audio Systems: Vienna speakers not working properly, ohm meter, resistor

Question
Hello, I'm wondering if you can help me out.  I have a pair of Vienna Haydn Grand speakers.  I believe they were overdriven. I was listening to a record and someone switched the amp to cd player, it got really loud now only the tweeters on the speakers work.  I opened them up and could not find any visual problems except for a blackened resistor on each speaker, (I think it's 150 ohms).  I have tried replacing the resistor with no luck as to getting the speakers to work.  Not sure where to go from here as none of the speakers are blown and there are no fuses or anything.  Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!!!

Answer
With no wires connected to the actual speaker, measure the resistance using an Ohm meter.  For an 8 ohm impedence speaker you should read about 6 ohms on the meter.  If you read infinity, you have blown the coils in the speaker and the speaker needs to be either replaced or reconed.
