Audio Systems: Onkyo Error, dsp board, bat wings

Question
QUESTION: I have an Onkyo TX-DS838 "Audio Video Control Receiver".  It has been giving some trouble with Audio.  I have reset it and am not sure if that solves the problem, but it is giving an arroe msg of Error SIO or SI0.  Was wondering if you could give any insight to this.
Regards,
Glen..

ANSWER: Are there any other symptoms? Try resetting this by unplugging for a few hours.  I have requested a copy of the service manual.  I'll update this soon.

QUESTION: I'll try to duplicate the problem.
Then unplug and then wait 1/2 hour, then try to duplicate the problem.
Onkyo told me it was a DSP on the sub microprocessor.  Might have just as well told me to add a few bat wings and some frog spit.
I have had the unit since new.  About 10 years or so.  Wouldn't bother me to replace it but seems a bit drastic at this point.
Regards,
and thanks for the come back...

Answer
I've chacked a few other models in my records and the DSP board has been the culprit.  This is not a cheap repair.  The chip is the most likely component and If available, you are looking at about $45 or so just for the chip.
Keep the faith, we're not done yet.
