Question
ok.i have a 2007 chevy silverado.not the new body style though.its a two door.and i have a 10 inch 200w bazooka tube coming.but i want to upgrade the rest of my system.on the doors i need 6 1/2 and on the pillars 4x6 speakers.i have a 52w sony marine radio in the truck now.on  the 6 1/2 pair i want has 600w total.100w rms for each.and on the 4x6 pair i want has 300w total 60w rms.what kind of amp do i need and do you suggest a different combo of speakers.both the speakers are alpine if that helps.

Answer
The most important things to consider after sound quality are fit/size and impedance matching.  Most amps can easily drive single drivers so long as the impedance rating of the speakers is equal or higher than the impedance rating of the amp.

I got a comment just two days ago from a correspondent that selected the replacement upgrade speaker carefully but when they were mounted turned out to be 1/4 inch too deep to fit inside the space in the doors.  So, you want to be careful about that.  The best place to find out if they fit is to go through the compatibility check at www.crutchfield.com.  They are the best for such specifications.

The amplifier should be one with good reliability and impedance matching to drive the speakers you want to use.

I don't make specific equipment recommendations because there are so many subjective factors involved.  But, amplifiers are much more perfect than are speakers in terms of audible performance.  So, concentrate on the speakers more than the amps for good sound.

The Bazooka will do fine. I have had a fondness for them for a long time; they work really good in automobile environments.  And, Bazooka has a good reliability record.

Sounds like you are on your way.  Should be an awesome sound when you get it all installed and fired up.
