Audio Systems: Aiwa compact disc stereo system at my residence, cassette mechanism, state positions

Question
Hello Garry,
I have an Aiwa compact disc stereo system
model #NSX-MA845. It has a cassette player built in and that is where I am having an issue.  My wife put the cassette on the left side compartment and the right side was not being used (so she wasn't recording to another tape or anything like that) and she said it was playing the cassette fine, however; when she was finished with listening to the tape it would not release after pressing the stop button. She couldn't even get the door open so she firmly pulled it open and had to pull firmly to get the tape out of its mechanism too.  Now every time we turn the stereo on, the cassette mechanism clicks 8 or 9 times and then the clicks stop on its own and all the other features still work properly. Is there something we can do to fix the cassette mechanism so it will stop the annoying clicking sound.  I'm hoping we can make a minor adjustment.  Please advise.  Thank you Sir.
Kind Regards, Jeff

Answer
sounds more likely that the mechanism drive belt has stretched enough as to not cycle through it's state positions. the most difficult part of the repair is getting unit apart enough to get to the belts. aiwa is pretty good equipment, and worth the repair cost, just make sure all the belts get replaced or you'll be back in the shop soon. total cost shouldn't be more than $120 or close.
