Audio Systems: GM -Delco radio not receiving, gm delco radio, antenna base

Question
I have a 2001 Chev Suburban with the stock Delco AM/FM CD Cass system that can't pick up a 50,000 watt station unless I am in the general vicinity of the transmitter. Needless to say it was a long ride from Houston to Cincinnati. There is an abundance of interference on the AM side and the FM has a very reduce range. Stations I used to pick up are not there and only the closest/more powerful come across. Any ideas?
Thanks

Answer
Go to your GM parts dept. and buy both antenna base and antenna cable assemblies. It's a relatively easy job, takes about 2 hours. The problem those trucks have is the connection between the base assembly and the rest of the cable corrodes and ruins both parts. You will be replacing everything from the bottom of the mast to the back of the radio.
