Audio Systems: 2002 Ford F250 6 cd changer and stereo, audio amplifier, radio mode

Question
The audio works fine when in radio mode, but when playing  a cd the left channel audio doesn't work, What gives??

Answer
Probably the cd player has dead left channel output.

- Could be a loose cable/wire from changer to head.
- Could be defective audio preamp inside cd changer.
- Could be cold solder joint or bad connection anywhere the left channel signal progresses from digital converter through cd changer to audio amplifier in head unit.

First, try wiggling things around; if the changer is mounted behind the seat, follow the wiring and wiggle them around; make sure the connections are good on both ends.

If it is an in-dash all in one changer you will probably have to take it in to a shop who has the test equipment to diagnose and repair.

If it is original with the F you may want to just replace it rather than repair it.  Places like

have ford replacement radios and cd players.
