Audio Systems: audio cables, preamp outputs, signal flows

Question
hello, i recently purchased 2 pairs of monster cable z200i reference analog audio cables. the instructions that came with cables tell me to connect z200i with the arrow on the jacket following the direction of signal flow. my question is, which direction should i run one pair of cables between my cd player and preamp and which direction for the other pair between my preamp outputs and power amp inputs? hope you can help.

Answer
Signal flows from the cd player into the preamp.  Signal flows from preamp outputs into the power amp inputs.

But, this is almost a laughing matter.  Electrons are elctrons and the could care less which way the wire is placed.  This is pure marketing hype to make you think there is something special about their cables.

Nos, putting that aside, there is a very small technical merit to their claim. It has to do with the resistance at the actual connection point where the plugs and jacks go to gether.  Based upon the chemistry of the two metals, the flow of electrical current will cause the build up of corrosion which may effect such resistance - as small as it may be.  If you compare the two ends you might find there is a difference in the plating materials of the connectors.

Conclusion: It really doesn't matter.  In fact, you can purchase garden variety cables from the discount store and I defy you to hear the difference!  (This comment is based on blind a/b listen testing I have personally conducted with golden eared audiophiles).
