Audio Systems: CAR RADIO WONT WORK, factory radio, extreme problems

Question
About 6 months had my cd player ripped out of my car. The next morning the car would not start, needed a boost to get it running and once I began to drive the dash blinks the word fuse and makes a beeping noise. The check engine light also stays on constantly since they ripped off my stereo. Can them ripping the cd player out really cause that much of an issue? I had a local autoshop take a look and diagnose it and they said a wire is loose somewhere and that's what is causing the check engine to stay on./Anyway since then I have had 3 people try and install the factory radio that came with the car back in, but when they do it will not turn on or give any power at all. Is this due to a reset button behind the panel that might need to be pushed? Help I can't live without music! Once the radio is installed do you think the check engine will shut off?

Thanks,
Jennifer

Answer
It could be many things.. and yes, depending on the vehicle, it can lead to extreme problems (even fires).   I would have to see the damage to be sure but I do know that most install shops would just do what is called a 'system rewire' in most cases. They usually start around $50.00 USD.

I would have to say that they are imitation installers OR you simply have a bad radio.

If you are in the USA, take it to Circuit City and let them install the radio.
