Question
2001 DODGE CARAVAN FACTORY RADIO HAS ENGINE NOISE(STATIC) ON AM RADIO ONLY (NOISE VOLUME INCREASES AS ENGINE RPM'S ARE INCREASED - - INSTALLED NEW RADIO ANTENNA AND NEW LEAD, HELPED SOME.  ONLY LISTEN TO AM AND WANT TO LEAVE THE FACTORY RADIO IN.  IS BAD ON SMOOTH HIGHWAY'S AND INTERMITTENT IN TOWN, CRYSTAL CLEAR THEN HIT A BUMP AND WILL PRODUCE STATIC BACK AND FORTH ALL DAY (I DRIVE ABOUT 40k PER YEAR AND WOULD LIKE TO CORRECT THIS ANNOYING PROBLEM

Answer
the antenna is on the back window or side window there is also a antenna amplifier inside the vehicle  for that antenna next to defroster  check the power to that box also window tinting  causes bad am reception because of metal parts on film

if that is not the case and you have a normal antenna on the fender  check for ground on the fenter
i will need more info
