Audio Systems: SONY XPLOD AMP, sony xplod amp, kicker impulse

Question
I have a 600W 3/4 channel Sony XPLOD amp I bought for my truck.  The only thing that this is powering at the time is a 10" Kicker Impulse in a custom closed box (it's under a back seat in my 2006 Ram Quad Cab).  The question I have is that after hooking it all up the Power/Protector indicator turned to red after a few minutes.  I have no Idea why.  We're running 8 gauge power and ground, and 16 gauge to the sub.  I have the outputs paralleled to run 300W to the sub.  Any Ideas?
I was also wondering what kind/size of "bass blocker" I should use on my other speakers.  I have 6x9's in the front doors and 6.5" in the rear doors.

Answer
You might have too low of an impedance load on the amp.
If so, run only the TWO mono outs to the speaker.

If you want a more specific answer, re-ask the question and use the PRIVATE option like it says to (also include the model numbers of the speaker and the amp). I will then be happy to tell you exactly what yer yer problem is and how to best deal with it.
*You might just have the amp level set too high. An all too common novice mistake.

Which bass blockers you use will depend on the impedance of each pair of speakers.
Try some that are about 150-200hz.
