Audio Systems: Choosing the right amp?, jbl speakers, ohm speakers

Question
QUESTION: I have recently brought a new (Panasonic CQ-C1333U) headunit and some (JBL GTO527) front speakers for my car. Ive found out that the headunit and speakers cant work together because the headunit cant take speakers below 4-8ohms. The JBL's are 2ohms!!
Can you first confirm that this is definatly the case? Will they not work together?

If they can't then im quite willing to spend that extra bit of cash to buy an amp for the JBL speakers. This is where im puzzled because i cant seem to find an amp that is just about right to work with the JBL's. They all seem too powerful just to power the speakers. Im only looking for a 2 channel amp that can just about power the 2ohm speakers! The speakers themselves are 45w RMS/ 135w PEAK. Do you have any recommendations for the right amp i will need to buy?
If you need any extra specs just let me know.

Thanks alot.
Ben.
ANSWER: well these speakers are in fact listed as 2 ohm speakers so I guess that's what they are.
the rating for 45 watts RMS is basically for full range operation.  if you played all frequencies including bass (and bass too deep for them to produce) they would be able to take 45 watts.  but if you add an amplifier you can take advantage of the fact that the amp has a crossover in it which would filter out some of the bass.  these speakers are only 5 1/4 in speakers so they are probably not capable of producing bass below 90 hz or so very well.  so if you set the highpass crossover on whatever amp you get to about 90 hz, the bass that would normally damage them will be filtered out.  so then these speakers could easily take 100 watts or so.

now I don't know if your vehicle has rear speakers or not, but if it does, even if they are the original factory speakers, you'd be doing yourself a favor by getting a 4 channel amp and running all 4 speakers off the amp, instead of the fronts off a 2 channel amp, and the rears off the cd player (yuck)

so that being said, if you have 4 speakers in your car, Id get this amp:

if you only have the 2 front speakers AND NO REAR SPEAKERS AT ALL then this one would be good for that:

Good luck and let me know if you need anything else please.

QUESTION: Yeah thats a big help Thanks.
Well i was planning on getting a package for my back speakers. It comes with a sub, amp and 6x9's.

http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/1259.html

So ill be getting the 2 channel amp for my front speakers and that package for the back.
I was also wondering because ive heard that a sub and 6x9's don't go well together because of all the bass frequencies. If i managed to set the crossovers right between the sub and the 6x9's would they work ok together?
And would you recommend any sound deadening for the boot especially?

Thanks again. Ben.

Answer
well, I'm glad you heard that from someone else so maybe you'll believe me (hearing it from more people now) CUZ ITS PRETTY MUCH TRUE!!  well 6x9s suck in general, and using a 4 channel amp to run subs and mids simultaneously sucks too pardon me for saying.  also having 5 1/4" speakers up front and 6x9s in the rear makes it even worse cuz your midbass is going to be focused behind you which will sound unnatural.
I'd pass.
