Audio Systems: Digital Audio, home cinema system, rca plugs

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I have just bought a 'home theatre kit', I wanted to connect it to my xbox 360, which has a toslink output. However, I realised that my home cinema system only had analog inputs on it. What do I do?
ANSWER: Hi Tim,

You'll have to buy a converter for the signal.  But if the Xbox 360 has composite output (three RCA plugs, yellow for video, red/white pair for audio) then they should connect to your home cinema system just fine with some male-male end cables.  Good luck!  Cheers, Wink

QUESTION: Thanks for all your help. The output from the Xbox 360 is optical (toslink ) and the input is analog phono. What type of converter do i need amd where do I get it from?
Thanks
Tim

Answer
Ah, sorry Tim, I don't have an Xbox so I didn't know what a TOSLink was, now I do.  You'll still need to get a converter, one that converts optical to analog phono.  A Web search for it will turn up a number of products.  There's nothing else you can do but buy a converter, and they're not cheap, sorry to say.  Good luck!
