Audio Systems: Radio cassette on JAGUAR XJ6 (XJ40) 1991, 1990 jaguar xj6, jaguar xj6

Question
We are sorry, but Ernesto Ruesta wasn't able to answer your question:

I had the same problem as  the owner of the 1990 jaguar xj6 with a factory radio. Mine is 1991. I did what you recommended. I got the cassette out. The motor wheel is melted and damaged. Now the red light cassette is OFF. But pressing the CD-TAPE button still doesn't allow me to play CDs. I can only listen AM-FM. I don't want to play cassettes, just my CDs!
Any possibilites to do that, maybe shunting the cassette module?

Answer
it all depends on what piece of this thing has the main guts in it.  its unfotunatly likely that the cd player is just a dummy player and has no amplifier or other parts in it.  if the tape portion has the guts in it and it's bad, then the cd player isnt going to have much hope.
I really dont answer factory questions anyway, becuase of stuff like this.  My recomendation is if you want a cd player, get one and put it in.
