hi, my problem is i took out my old cd player and i installed a new one but for some odd reason i'm not getting power to it, although i had power going to my old one.  I checked all the wiring and fuses with a 12 volt circuit tester and i found out it was my constant power wire...how can i fix this error. please don't tell me i need to take it to a professional i can't afford that right now
-----Answer-----
Its probably just a blown fuse.  Check the fuse block,  there should be one inside the car with little blade fuses.  the one under the hood usually wont have the stereo in it so dont bother looking there.
if there isnt a fuse labled as radio or stereo, you can just pull each one and inspect it but do one at a time so you're sure they go back where they came from.
If there's no blown fuses let me know, we can fix it anyway.

Answer
so no fuses blown huh?  I'm suprised.  I guess if the wire fried somewhere and if it's the constant power wire it should be easy to just pull a new one.  open the hood and see if you can find any rubber plugs or gromets in your firewall, or if you can see where the existing bundle of wires goes through.  if you can poke a small hole in that, you can go to walmart and get a small spool of 14 gauge wire and a fuse. then you can just feed the wire through the hole you poked in the rubber plug and it should come out inside the car.  then just route it to the rear of the cd player and connect it to the yellow wire on the cd player.  then connect the other end to the fuse and to the battery.  a 15-20 amp fuse would be best for that.  if you cant find the hole in the firewall then we'll have to try to tap something inside the car that has enough juice for the cd player.  whats the year make and model of the car?
